| Stace Wenk, DO Vice President Dr. Stacie Wenk is a hospital medicine specialist based in Sarasota. She graduated from NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993 and is board-certified in Internal Medicine and specializes in Geriatrics. Dr. Wenk’s expertise is broad and includes the treatment of conditions such as sepsis, strokes, and transient ischemic attacks. Her passion for caring for older adults extends beyond their medical needs to include their social and emotional well-being. This commitment led her to hospice care, where she supports patients and their families during some of life’s most vulnerable moments, ensuring them comfort and dignity. |
| Brandan Faza, MD Secretary/Treasurer Dr. Brandan Faza, a fifth-generation Tampanian, is an emergency medicine physician. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of South Florida Health Morsani College of Medicine in 2015. Dr. Faza oversees six free-standing emergency departments and approximately 30 physicians in the Tampa Bay area. Dr. Faza is a self proclaimed prototypical adrenaline junkie who loves being a master jack-of-all-trades. |
| Joel Silverfield, MD Chairman, Board of Trustees Dr. Joel Silverfield is board certified in rheumatology and internal medicine and practices in Tampa and Valrico. He earned his medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta in 1976 and completed a fellowship in rheumatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Over his career, Dr. Silverfield has conducted more than 500 research trials in the field of rheumatology and immunology. He is known for his sensitivity to the uniqueness of each patient’s situation and adapts his consultation and treatment options to accommodate their individual needs. Dr. Silverfield has been an HCMA member for 45 years, served as HCMA president in 2021, and was recognized as the HCMA Outstanding Physician of the Year in 2023. |
| Nam Tran, MD Immediate Past President Dr. Nam Tran is a neuro-oncology surgeon at Moffitt Cancer Center and assistant professor of oncology and neurosurgery at the University of South Florida Health Morsani College of Medicine. Dr. Tran completed his fellowship training at Moffitt, following a residency in neurosurgery at the Medical College of Virginia, serving as chief resident his final year. Prior to that, he was affiliated with the University of California-Irvine, where he received a PH.D. in neuroscience and served as an assistant project scientist. Dr. Tran’s research interests include tumor and trauma-associated cerebral edema, central nervous system malignancies, and spine biomechanics. |
